Cindy S. Lovern, DVM, MS
Cindy S. Lovern, DVM, MS, graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She earned a Masters Degree in Veterinary Science from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Upon graduation she worked in feline exclusive medicine for 2 years before heading to Schaumburg, IL to lead the American Veterinary Medical Association’s disaster preparedness and relief program. While at AVMA Dr. Lovern managed the Veterinary Medical Assistance Teams and was named primary staff support to the Committee on Disaster and Emergency Issues and the Committee on Environmental Issues. Dr. Lovern developed and wrote the AVMA Disaster Preparedness Series – a set of references to help practitioners and pet owners prepare for and respond to disasters. Currently Dr. Lovern is a part-time associate veterinarian at the Banfield hospital in Short Pump, Virginia.
Dr. Lovern has a 7 year old American Staffordshire Terrier named Syrus; a 12 year old black cat named Pepsi and a 7 year old black cat named Spooky. She is also married to her wonderful husband Kevin, of 12 years and they have two beautiful sons, Caden Matthew (5) and Maddox David 9 months.
